If we were serious we would have formed a skilled police squad to enforce existing laws. You cannot, in my view, regulate criminal behaviour, you have to arrest and prosecute the offenders and recover the proceeds of crime.
And yet the government are very keen to instigate spying on the bank accounts of millions of ordinary people without any basis for suspicion. Amazing how a 2-tier system operates for the wealthy versus the 'little people'.
As I have commented before the lack of oversight by Companies House is scandalous. Before digital filing if you tried to file accounts that were clearly incorrect eg were not consistent with prior year filings they would be rejected. Now you can file any old rubbish and when you approach Companies House to complain they say it is not their responsibility I believe when VAT first came in they decided that ensuring VAT compliance was best way of regulating smaller businesses but that no longer works
Heads up, report link leads to a 404 page.
Worked OK just now but copied below

Thank you, Dan. Keep posting. Keep investigating.
Business meets the Wild West.
What does government need to do, Dan? A modernised Companies Act? Beef up Companies House?
Form a squad, like we do for any other criminal behaviour.
Nothing but praise and gratitude from me. Brilliant. Important work. Keep up the good fight.

Link in the post is 404'd, but going from the main articles page brings it up fine.

Shameful
Why has the page with the report been ‘bricked up’?
